Topic of the Month - Women & Entrepreneurship

This month our focus topic is Women & Entrepreneurship. Have you ever toyed with the idea of starting your own business? Have you wondered what it takes to strike out on your own and make a success of it? Then come and join us for the June Women & Hi Tech Discussion group meeting on Women & Entrepreneurship.

This month we will be taking advantage of a wonderful opportunity presented to us by Scott Able (aka The Content Wrangler) the organizer of the DocTrain Life Sciences conference. He has graciously offered to host our evening discussion group meeting; providing us with a meeting room, a speaker, and even an invitation to a complimentary cocktail reception prior to our meeting. The location for the meeting is the Crowne Plaza Hotel downtown at Union Station.

Blogging Pays Off in Unexpected Ways

If I were to make a list of all of the benefits of blogging, I wouldn't have put free symphony tickets on the list. However, that's exactly what happened to me. Last night I was given free tickets to attend the world premier of "Ask Your Mama: 12 Moods for Jazz", a multimedia performance featuring the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Ron McCurdy jazz quartet, and Ice T reading the Langston Hughes poem. The only provision to gettng the free tickets was that I had to blog about my experience.… Continue

Connecting students around the globe

I have a vision where students connect with their peers from around the world. Why? Because it's interesting. It's challenging to create global friendships, across cultures and across seas. And it's interesting to learn what other are studying. Even the very precise studies, like math, are not exact all over the world. Sometimes you need help figuring out a problem and someone from across the world, who studied it in a different way, will offer that different angle that opens your eyes. This is… Continue

Devour Downtown Indianapolis!

It's time once again to Devour Downtown Indianapolis. For the next 2 weeks, over 30 downtown restaurants are offering a special menu - a 3 course meal for $30! The list of participating restaurants includes some pretty pricey restaurants such as the Canterbury, Elements, Oceanaire, St. Elmos, and more. It's a great way to try out a new place at a reasonable price. Simply go to the… Continue

LinkedIn Networking Success Story

Lately I’ve become something of a zealot on the topic of “virtual networking”. This was the topic I chose for the April Women & Hi Tech discussion group. I thought I’d do a bit of research, see what tools were out there, write some reviews, and then move on to the next topic. Along the way I became a convert (addict?) and things I never knew existed suddenly became part of my daily life! One tool I became totally enamored of is the Li… Continue
